What to Expect

"When you find yourself beginning to feel a bond between yourself and the people you photograph, when you laugh and cry with their laughter and tears, you will know you are on the right track." -Arthur Fellig

My style can best be described as casual and authentic. I see the beauty in people. I value it. I respect it. I want to capture it. In that vein, I will ask that you come to your session as you are.  Let me in.

You will be provided with photographs that tell the story of your family – that capture your love and joy and emotions and connections. After all, I am not here to capture your likeness. I am here to capture how you feel. The goal is for you to look at your images and see the beauty that is your family, your children, your baby, your partner, your life. Because, your life is beautiful.

Your session will take place at a location that will not only provide a lovely backdrop for your images, but will allow your family to truly enjoy the time spent in front of my camera. Whether it’s an afternoon stroll through Old Town, Alexandria, a wild romp around Roosevelt Island, or a quiet morning spent in the comfort of your own home, we will find the perfect spot for your family’s session.

Our time together will be spent as friends – chatting, laughing, making jokes and chasing children. Your experience before, during and after your session is valuable to me – as valuable as is the final product. This should be a joyful experience.

I can almost hear you thinking, well what if my kids . . . or, what if my partner . . . or, what if the weather. Oh, the what ifs! Do not worry about the what ifs. I have heard most of them. Some have even come to pass. But, none will keep us from the goal – celebrating your love for your family and documenting its beauty. Trust me.

Let me capture the real you. I’m not here to capture the perfect family portrait. That is not my goal. My goal is to capture the in-between. That is the stuff life is made of.
